About us

Tina and Gina began this passion project as they were continuing to see the lack of supervision in the dietetics field.  Believing that supervision is a key role in dietetics and client work, Tina and Gina decided to create this group to provide well rounded support to health professionals.

The purpose of Texas Eating Disorder Dietitians is to educate, encourage and empower dietitians and other health professionals working with disordered eating and eating disorders from an Intuitive Eating, non-diet and weight inclusive framework.

They strongly believe that eating disorders are a social justice issue and they will continue to hold this discussion and make sure that social justice is a rolling theme in the support they provide.

As Tina and Gina hold many privileges, they are constantly learning and unlearning ways to provide better support to their clients and those who hold marginalized identities.  They are active in anti-racism, social justice, fat positive, cultural competence and inclusive work.  They can not pretend that they hold the same lived experience as most of their clients, but are committed to doing the work to continue to provide a safe and inclusive environment to all individuals.

Tina is the co-founder and co-owner of TEDD.   Tina has experience working with a broad range of clients including eating disorders, disordered eating and sports nutrition. Working in the eating disorder field since 2008, her vast experience includes various outpatient practices, as well as working in the higher level of care treatment setting.  However, Tina’s passion lies in working with those trying to heal their relationship with food, body and movement through a non-diet, weight inclusive lens.  Tina enjoys working with clients across the lifespan including little kiddos and their parents trying to break the family dieting legacy.

In addition to client work, Tina’s passion lies in working with health professionals trying to improve their own relationship with food, body and movement and how to translate this healing into client work.  Tina also enjoys assisting health professionals in growing their own business and exploring the management aspect of running a private practice.

Tina owns the group private practice, TLB Nutrition Therapy.  In this work she supervises all of her staff ensuring that the dietitians are providing safe, non-diet and inclusive care to the clients.

Additionally, in her free time, Tina has trained and mentored with triathlon and running teams, having completed numerous endurance and adventure races herself. She finds the balance between endurance activity and nutrition fascinating and believes that genuine harmony can only be accomplished when you are nourishing and in communication with your body's true signals. Tina is also a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Additionally, Tina is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Supervisor (CEDS-S) through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP).

Personally, Tina has two fabulous children, an extremely supportive husband and a whole corral of animals.

Gina Mateer
RD, LD, CEDRD-S, RYT200
(she/her)

Gina is the co-founder and co-owner of TEDD. Gina has spent her entire career as a dietitian specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and disordered eating. She has worked at IOP, PHP and outpatient levels of care. She started a private practice in 2016 and has been working fully virtually with clients since 2019.

Gina understands the importance of working as a collaborative team and strives to bring clinicians together to support their clients and clients’ loved ones. Gina brings collaboration as a key to healing the relationship with food and body as a forefront in her training and support of other clinicians.

Gina has a passion for working with a handful of specific populations that tend to present as challenging to other providers because of dietitians lack of training provided by our dietetic programs. Gina has sought additional training through yoga, meditation, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, polyvagal theory and NICABM’s Advanced Masters program on the treatment of trauma to support work with those who have complex trauma. She also specializes in working with those who have co-occurring GI issues, those seeking fertility, during pregnancy and postpartum, and  those with autoimmune conditions. Gina has a passion for working with individuals experiencing active purging behaviors.

Gina balances a strong medical nutrition foundation related to the treatment of eating disorders with a relational approach to nutrition counseling.

Outside of the eating disorder world, Gina is married with 2 kids and a dog living in Austin, Tx. She can be found taking long neighborhood walks, attempting to grow things in her garden, and hiking the hills on the weekends. She loves live music (cliche for Austin) and hopes to get to some shows this year now that she is outside of the initial baby phase. She is highly energetic and passionate about life, sometimes (or often) called “too much”, but has also really learned to slow down through cultivating a regular meditation practice.
